All along the Mississippi River delta from Illinois, Missouri, Tennessee, Mississippi, Arkansas, Southern Ark., Louisiana (and even Georgia) is the home of the Delta Pit Bull .These are hi-bred American Pit Bulls which were bred mainly as bear, hog and deer hunters. Of course these dogs were also used in the fighting pits from Texas to Chicago with great success. They are affectionately known in these parts as chase and kill dogs after their roles; hunting hogs, bear and deer.
